Narrated by Charlton Heston, The Mystery of the Sphinx introduced American viewers to the discovery by John Anthony West and Robert Schoch that the Great Sphinx of Giza might be thousands of years older than archaeologists like to admit. The new theoretical date of approximately 9-10,000 years ago based on patterns of wear by rainfall on the Pshinx also jibes well with the end of the Younger Dryas 12,500 years ago.
